But I have so many tools to help you lose weight with homeopathy & naturopathic medicine.

So I cannot in good conscience withhold such tools from you.
Irrespective of how superifically cliché this topic may be.

We all do.

Hunger & consumption are natural.
And, indeed, necessary for survival & health.

A raging bonfire will readily consume its fuel.
It will burn brightly, evenly, & almost indefinitely when properly stoked.
Is Food Suppressing Your Passion?
But what happens when you throw a bunch of thick, heavy logs atop a spark or small flame?
At best, the flame feebly wicks the wood, without catching or growing.
Or worse - the sheer size of the logs actually extinguishes the flame entirely!
Similarly, excesses of food, drink, or other vices can encumber, burden, or even suffocate your passion before it has an opportunity to grow to its true potential.
Passion - Stoke Or Choke
So how can you optimally nourish your passion?
Provide your fire with the optimal quantity & quality of fuel.
And that fire will burn vigorously & cleanly.
Rekindle Dying Embers Of Passion
Embers – even those seemingly long-dead - can be readily rekindled into a powerful blaze.
But not with heavy, wet logs.
With tinder & kindling.
Something which whets the appetite.
But without squelching, suppressing, or superficially satiating that hunger.
Allow Yourself To Be Hungry
Once any issues with your hunger feedback systems have been corrected, you will able to trust your body’s hunger signals.
But that hunger may still not be for food.
How can you figure that out?
Allow yourself to truly experience that sensation of hunger.
It is no accident that fasting is, cross-culturally, considerd a holy, religious, & deeply spiritual experience.
The body & mind are cleared of distractions.
And the true source of your hunger can make itself apparent.

In fact, intentional, focussed, & controlled deprivation is a cross-cultural path to enlightenment.

A class of proteins called sirtuins have emerged as one of the strongest mediators of the effects of CRAN.
Of course, to big pharma – and, in fairness, its naturopathic equivalent (“big-supplement”?) – this scientific breakthrough represents another patentable & lucrative business opportunity.
Caloric Reduction Reductionism
Accordingly, calorie restriction mimetic (CRM) drugs have been developed in an attempt to simulate the mechanism & effects of CRAN.
Without having to, you know, actually stop stuffing our faces.
Unsurprisingly, no such effective CRMs have been identified.
I suspect this is because the benefits of fasting & caloric restriction extend well beyond such reductionistic mechanisms.

Vast amounts of time, money, energy, emotion, & other resources are devoted to thinking about, planning, preparing, & consuming food.

Unleashing Passion Via Samadhi
My childhood was rife with "creative" jabs at my surname.
Both innocuous and - among those with basic anagram skills & apparent biblical knowledge - profane.
So when a patient remarked several years ago that my name, personality, and treatment reminded her of a word from her homeland …
… I was naturally prepared for the worst. ;)
Fortunately, that word is Samadhi.
Far from profane.
In fact, Samadhi is an ancient Sanskrit term for a form of meditative absorption.
Meditative absorption achieved through one-pointed concentration.
In Buddhism, Samadhi is also the last element of the Noble Eightfold Path.
By which enlightenment may be attained through single-pointed focus.
Indeed, even though I did not have a name for such a state until relatively recently, the greatest, most profound experiences of my life – spiritual or otherwise - have all occurred in a Samadhi state.
It is a place in which time, space, and the chattering of the mind fall away.
In which every cell of your body is vibrating in synchronicity with the object of your focus & passion.
Samadhi, Flow & The Zone
Noted psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi has coined the term flow to describe the Samadhi state.
In colloquial western terms, this is often known as being in the zone.
Csíkszentmihályi formulated the required conditions for a task to elicit flow:
- Clear goals & progress.
- Clear & immediate feedback.
- High challenge balanced by high skill.
Csíkszentmihályi graphically described flow - and other states of consciousness - relative to perceived challenge & skill levels as follows:
Passive, relaxing activities don’t elicit flow.
Your concentration must be devoted to the task at hand.
I am extremely well-acquainted with this state.
And frequently enter it during patient treatment, when focusing on project and - in truth - throughout the vast majority of my life.
